1. Stockwood Discovery Centre

This lovely little garden in Luton has free entry and there’s plenty to see and do. There’s also an award-winning display of Mossman carriages as well as all sorts of other exhibitions that will give you an insight into Luton’s history. It’s a great place for a date because you can both take your time to explore the gardens or find new and interesting things to talk about while looking at the exhibitions.

2. Whipsnade Zoo

This famous zoo is the perfect place for a date. Everyone loves animals and it’s a great chance to see elephants, lemurs, red pandas and sea lions. Visiting all the animals is most of the fun but there are also shows and exhibitions too. Perhaps even treat your date to something to eat in the Wild Bite Café.

3. Alban Arena

There’s a huge amount of shows to choose from at the arena. Perhaps you and your date could take in the latest modern play before discussing it over dinner. Or maybe see something more relaxed like a comedy show. Sharing  something like this breaks the ice and gives you things to talk about. It’s a great way to get to know someone too, especially if you’re experiencing one of their favourite things with them.

4. Wrest Park

There’s nothing more romantic than a rose garden and it’s much less obvious than bringing flowers on a first date. Drink in the sights and sounds of the English Heritage site, chat, explore and get to know one another. There’s a mansion, beautiful sculptures, a lake and picnic area. You can spend the whole day at Wrest Park whether it’s at one of the exhibitions or just taking your time to wander around the gardens.

5. Luton Hoo

For something a bit more special than lunch or dinner, take your date for afternoon tea at one of Luton’s smartest hotels. It’s a good excuse to put on some nice clothes and sample some fine tea, cakes and sandwiches. The beautiful thing about having a first date here is the opportunity to stay at the hotel in years to come. It might be thinking a little too far ahead but having a first date somewhere you might want to spend an anniversary is pretty special.
