2. Castle Rushen

Castle Rushen_Isle of ManIf you’re in Castletown, the island capital, then it’s well worth visiting Castle Rushen which was once home to Kings and Lords of Mann. Over the years the castle has been used as a fortress, royal residence, mint and a prison. It’s got an extensive history that’s very much part of the island. If you’re both feeling brave (or just want an excuse to hold onto one another) you can go on one of ghost walks around the castle with Isle of Man Ghost Tours.

3. The Millennium Walk

The path links Ramsey in the north to Castletown in the south with plenty to see and do on the way. You could climb the beautiful Sky Hill (where the Norse king Godred conquered the Manx in 1079); overlook the Block Eairy and Sulby reservoirs; pass by old mine works abandoned in 1867; and visit the standing stones known as St. Patrick’s Chair.
