Online Dating in Cleveland
Middlesbrough is a modern city, and as such it boasts some great shopping spots, a fervent football scene, some even better nightlife and great food. Being placed on the south side of the River Tees means its well-placed for jaunts into the North York Moors National Park, and if you have time on your hands, the seaside towns of Redcar and Whitby. If you’re planning a date in this city you’ll not be short of things to do, we’ve tried to whittle down the results, so you can make the most of your time here. Image via Ben Pearey on Flickr.
Walks and star gazing
If your idea of dating heaven is a long walk but you haven’t the time to get to the moors then Wynyard Woodland Park is for you. Miles of country walking paths loop around a disused railway line, creating the perfect setting for a wildlife –infused walk or a picnic with your date. If you come in the evening on a Friday you can star gaze in the observatory too – and what could be more romantic than that?
Shop til’ you drop
Middlesbrough is known for its designer boutiques, there are plenty to choose from for a special shopping trip here, including 4 malls and some pretty impressive vintage stores too. After you’ve exhausted the shops you’ll want to relax in a comfy chair, perhaps with a steaming hot chocolate or an artisan coffee? You could do much worse than to step into vintage paradise The Olde Young Tea House. Or for something totally out there, take your seat on a repurposed fairground waltzer at Mink, the first tattoo shop which also serves coffee. Image via bluedon on Flickr.
Boating on the lake
Albert Park covers 100 acres in the centre of town – the perfect respite from the hectic city. Take a boat and serenade your date on the boating lake to the east of the park or try your skills on the roller skating rink, topped off by a coffee in the café. Image via mark_fletcher on Flickr.
Modern Art
Mima is Middlesbrough’s Institute of Modern Art, showcasing international artists from the 1900s to modern day, the best news is this gallery is free! This glass-fronted architectural delight also hosts music events at different times in the year. Incidentally, there are lots of art installations to be found around the city, why not treat your date to a tour, taking in the Bottle of Notes in Centre Square and Temenos, the 50 meters high sculpture at Middlehaven dock. Finish with a meander through one of Middlesbrough’s many galleries. Image via the slasor on Flickr.
Climbing high
Get the adrenal glands pumping with some action on the rocks at Rock Antics Indoor climbing walls. Indoor walls, fitted crash mats, a bouldering wall and trained instructors make this the perfect place to test each other’s nerves and get a bit of excitement pumping on your first date.
Food glorious food!
After all that activity you’re going to need some fuel, and Middlesbrough is just the place, with lots of choice for eating out and a variety of cuisines to choose from. If you fancy light bites then Café Bahia offers stylish tapas and Portuguese fusion food. For something more luxurious try Brasserie Hudson Quay or for a place with a pinch of fun making a booking at Pixies Diner, the popular American diner.
