Online Dating in Leicestershire
After a cultural revival in the 60s, in which hundreds of Indian and Pakistani textile workers came to live and work in Leicester, the city has blossomed into a lively, multicultural hub in central England. Surrounded by the beautiful countryside of the National Forest and trails of the Leicestershire round this gem of a city is a great choice for a date with a difference. Explore The National Space Centre
How many people can say they’ve seen the wonders of space on a first date? Or learned about zero gravity toilets or self-cleaning underwear? Ok so perhaps miss off those last exhibits, but the rest of this space-mad centre just a couple of miles north of the city centre is a star-gazers dream. Visit the Sir Patrick Moore Planetarium for a 360 degree cinema experience you won’t forget in a hurry. Image via darlo2009 on Flickr.
Get Spooky At All Saints Church
Not many cities offer a place to be completely alone with your date in public, but the Forgotten Church – as it’s known – in High Church Street is one such place. You can pick up the key to this Grade I listed building from the West End Gallery for free, and spend as long as you like exploring -or as long as you can take (it can be a bit spooky.) Unique Dining at Golden Mile
If you’re looking for a unique dining location in Leicester then head to the Golden Mile on Belgrave Road. This is where locals and visitors alike flock to sample the bustling cultural wonder of a street full of Asian restaurants, food stalls and markets. There is an extensive selection of Indian cuisine to choose from here as well as many vegetarian offerings to whet your and your date’s appetites.
Hang out at Phoenix Arts Centre
Cinema, art space and café bar combine to make this the cultural beating heart of Leicester. This is the place to take a discerning date in search of some artistic enlightenment. Catch an independent film, a digital art exhibition or relax in the café bar with a locally sourced wine or beer. Image via regenrenewal on Flickr.
Picnic at Leicestershire Round
Surrounding the city are 100 miles of pathways taking in the best of the National Forest in this area. Crossing canals, cycle paths, moors and small market towns this is a great way to experience the great outdoors with your date. We’re not suggesting you complete the whole route in one go (that would be an intense date) but Bradgate Park ruins and the Saddington reservoir would make a great spot for a picnic. Shopping at Deli Flavour
Speaking of a picnic, this deli has got to be the best place in Leicester to stock up on local speciality meats, cheeses and homemade cakes and sandwiches. It was voted one of the best Deli’s in the country by the Independent, and mentioned in The Times ‘Best Food Supplement’ too. Whilst you’re picking up your lunch why not have a dip in and out of the independent shops that line the streets around Stoneygate, it’s one of the more popular areas to shop for gifts and independent boutiques in Leicester.
