Polokwane - croc park One of the biggest attractions in Polokwane is the Bird and Reptile Park. It is one of the biggest municipal reserves in South Africa. There are over 280 bird species in the resorts and loads of snakes, lizards and crocodiles. It’s not exactly white river rafting into the big unknown, but it certainly is something a little bit different. If you’ve got the time or inclination, there are many picnic spots at the resort too. Polokwane Game Reserve

Polokwane Game reserve Ten minutes from the city centre is the Polokwane Game Reserve. The reserve covers 3250 hectares and is one of the largest in south Africa. The gamepark offers beautiful bushveld which houses 52 game species. White rhinos, sable antelope and giraffe all roam freely and there are over 200 bird species to boot. You will need a whole day to meander through the reserve and enjoy lunch at lovely picnic site. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even opt to go mountain biking, hiking or take a trail on horseback. There’s even overnight accommodation available in the form of self-catering chalets.
