The Fern Pit café and boathouse is accessible from the opposite side of the estuary mouth, or via small ferry from Crantock during the high season.

Near Watergate Bay are the rock towers of Bedruthen Steps. Favoured by rock climbers and sea birds the cliff top makes a great place for a brisk walk in winter, or a sunny spot to sit for a picnic in summer. The National Trust café overlooking the beach is a good place to sit and watch the tide swallow up the sand.
