4 Ways to Ring in the New Year as a Single Girl

Now that the Christmas season is winding down, it’s time to look ahead to the new year and more importantly, to New Year’s Eve! I’m currently in the midst of deciding where I’ll be ringing in 2013, but one thing is for sure – I am certainly excited to start 2013 off solo, and with a bang.

Since most of my friends are all seriously coupled up, it’s sometimes difficult to be the 3rd or 5th or 13th wheel on big nights out. But instead of feeling like I don’t belong, I’ve come up with a few ways to make celebrating as a single girl a bit more fun.

Get fancy. Go all out and get dolled up. Get a sparkly dress, some new lipstick, curl your hair, buy new shoes, whatever it takes to make you feel like a million bucks. Your girlfriends might have significant others, but you’ve got style and an attitude to go with it.

Be bold. Jump outside your comfort zone and find an adorable stranger to kiss at midnight. Nothing like a bold show of confidence to start of your new year! (Just make sure the adorable stranger did not show up with an adorable girlfriend before making your move!)

Stay you. Maybe a big party and a fancy dress isn’t your style, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still celebrate in style. Invite some friends over, play some games and pop some champagne. Fancy dresses and midnight makeouts are great for some people, but let’s make 2013 the year of being true to yourself and knowing what you want, yeah?

Reflect. Sometimes years are full of successes and happiness, and sometimes they’re filled with trial and error. Either way it’s important to look back and see how far we’ve come. This single gal will be reflecting on dates gone wrong, my own shortcomings and what I’m looking for in love in 2013.

How will you be ringing in the New Year?
