How To Get Over Someone You Love
When I was going through it, I actually thought my last break-up was going to break me apart forever. I’m not going to sugarcoat it-breaking up with someone you love is quite possibly the worst thing ever. However, there are a few things you can do that will help you bounce back faster or at least prevent you from listening to one more depressing song over and over.
1. Give yourself a deadline. When you’re in the midst of the break-up spiral, it feels like the pain is never going to end. The only person who can determine how long it lasts is you. Sure you can cry, mope around and not get dressed for days. At some point though, the real world and the rest of your life is going to come knocking. Give yourself a timeline and a goal…after a week of sadness, it’s time to dust yourself off and get on with it.
2. Sweat it out. Exercise releases the ultimate feel good endorphins. When you’re down and out, the last thing you want to do is go to the gym or workout, but I promise you won’t regret it. If you don’t feel like leaving your house, blast some Robin and dance around your living room. Take your dog on an extra long walk. Working out, even just a bit, will boost your confidence simply because you’re doing something for yourself-and that always feels good.
3. Seize the day. Remember when you were in your relationship? It’s safe to say that you probably let some of your hobbies or friends fall to the back of the line, or maybe you didn’t sign up for an event or class just so you could spend more time with your significant other. Well, there is no time like the present, right? You’ve got nothing but time! Do the things you’ve been thinking of, no excuses. Not only will you be reminded of the happy things in life, but when you meet another man or woman in the future (and trust me, you will) you’ll be bringing all these new and exciting things to the table!
4. Take it slow. When it comes to dating again, that is. If you’re fresh out of a relationship and still healing from a difficult break-up, it’s ok to take some time to enjoy being single. Looking for another person to replace your ex won’t do you any good. Go at your own pace, and you’ll know when you’re ready to find love again.
So how do you get over someone you love?

The time frame is a good idea. I went through a bad break up once, but I had a good friend to pull me through. Had it not been for him, then I may have wound up sulking in my room for a week or so. But, going forward, I think I’ll advise others to have a time frame. It puts a perspective on getting over the hurt.
