6 Great 4th of July Dates

4th of july dates

The 4th of July is coming up, and I have some ideas for great 4th of July dates. Because sometimes, you just gotta get your date on, even if it’s Independance Day. Here are some ideas. Enjoy and check below for a special 4th of July offer!

1. Go to Disneyland.

What better place to see a spectacular fireworks show other than Disneyland? Yes, it’s sure to be crowded, but if Disneyland is your happy place, just whistle “Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah” as you navigate your way through the crowds. The Disneyland website boasts an, “inspirational fireworks show set to rousing patriotic songs” as part of their 4th of July fireworks special. What could be more American than that?

2. Stay at home and watch Independance Day.

For something completely different, snuggle with your date set to the oh-so-romantic film Independence Day, in which Will Smith punches an alien in the face while shouting, “Welcome to Earth!”. Relieve the 1990’s movie magic. And then make out. (Because really, we all know “watching a movie” is just code for “making out”).

3. Head to the beach.

It’s cliché, yes, but who doesn’t love the beach on the 4th of July? You’re sure to see some fireworks, and nothing says romance like Will Smith punching an alien in the face, I mean, fireworks exploding above crashing waves. Bring blankets, snacks, and maybe even sneak some booze. Hey, I’m not gonna judge you. It’s your date.

4. Host or go to a barbeque.

The classic 4th of July activity is a barbeque, and you and your date could either host one or go to one. If you’re hosting one, you have the option to make it a big 4th of July pool party blowout, assuming of course, you have a pool or know how to sneak into a hotel with a massive group of people. If you’re invited to one, bring your date. Eat lots of hot dogs without guilt. Maybe even challenge each other to a hotdog eating contest, because that’s just so endearing. If not hot dogs, then pie!

5. Make 4th of July themed cocktails.

With some blue Curaçao liqueur and pomegranate juice, you can make red white and blue themed cocktails (the ice can be the white — it’s close enough.) If you really want to go for it, make Jello shots. Hey, again, it’s your date — who am I to judge? Or just make and drink regular ole cocktails, but give them themed names like, “Lady Liberty” (a Cosmopolitan) or “Soaring Eagle” (a White Russian). Have some fun with it!

6. Do “America” themed karaoke.

I’ve written before about why karaoke is a great first date, and what can I say other than, I love karaoke? But really, think how fun it would be to kick out all those classic American jams: “Coming To America” by Neil Diamond, “America” by Simon and Garfunkel, and basically anything by Bruce Springsteen. Wear red, white, and blue and lots of denim, and really belt it out — not just for you and your date — but for America.

God bless America!
