7 Couples Costumes I’d Actually Wear
Halloween is almost here and I have to be honest here – I don’t really get into that whole dressing up thing. I know. I know. It makes me lame or no fun or whatever, but, honestly, I would rather stay at home with a big old bowl of popcorn and some scary movies. And I’ve always been able to lay low and do just that. But this year, I’m engaged to a guy who really gets into it and we’ve been invited to a party hosted by a friend. I’ve decided to play nice and dress up, but some couples costumes are a pretty cheesy and awful and, frankly, those costume stores are just no help. So here are 7 ideas for couples costumes (and I would actually wear every single one of them).
Walter and Skyler White from Breaking Bad
This is actually what my fiancé and I are going as. What I love about this costume is that it’s super easy. You could pick any season and basically just wear regular clothes. I’m throwing in a wig for Skyler and he’s getting a hat for Walter and we’re all set. You could also totally rock the dress shirt and tighty whities.
Melanie Daniels and Mitch Brenner from The Birds
This is one of my all-time favorite movies. When I was living in Chicago there was a whole group of people dressed up like Alfred Hitchcock characters and they were some of the coolest costumes I’ve ever seen. This might be a little trickier since you need some birds on your costume to get the full effect. But still, so worth it.
Wilson and Chuck from Cast Away
There are many epic movie moments and one of them was the moment that Wilson drifted away. Don’t judge. Everyone cried in that moment until you realized it was a volleyball. I am not sure how you’d make this costume, but I’ve seen it on some websites and it’s pretty awesome.
Lindsay and Tobias Funke from Arrested Development
There’s so much you can do with this couple. Tobias in his never nude or when he was blue. Lindsay is a pretty easy costume to put together too. It definitely deserves a spot on this list.
Felicity Porter and Ben Covington from Felicity
I know. I know. Maybe this is a little corny, but it’s not nearly as bad as a prince and princess type deal. This is also an easy costume and I have never seen anyone dress up as this couple.
Kelly Kapowski and Zack Morris from Saved By The Bell
Again, I know. But who doesn’t love Kelly and Zack? There are lots of options here. You could do the whole cheerleader thing or the scene after the dance. The possibilities are endless (and awesome).
Bill Swerski’s Chicago Superfans from Saturday Night Live
It’s probably the Chicagoan in me, but putting on a fake mustache and saying “da bears” while eating sausages all night just sounds fun. I know they’re not technically a couple, but it would still make a great (and hilarious) costume.
